Theodorou Island – Secret Coves and Caves – Menies

  • PRICE €650
28 km from Chania
Starting our boat trip from the picturesque Port of Chania, we embark on the unforgettable adventure of an open sea. Escaping from the crowds, we head towards Menies. This is a lovely secluded beach, with crystal clear waters and sun bleached pebbles infused with marble. It's also the site of ancient Diktynna an important city state with a rich history. It was an important pilgrimage destination for the goddess Vritomartis, the Cretan version of Artemis. Remnants of the ancient temple and baths can still be seen.

After a refreshing swim and snack, it's time to explore small coves and caves, accessible only by boat. We guarantee that the rugged beauty will fill you with a sense of awe!
On our cruise back towards Chania, we will drop anchor and admire the nature reserve of Theodorou Island. Home to the KRI-KRI, the wild Cretan mountain goat. This island plays an important role in the protection of Cretan fauna. Here you can enjoy snorkelling in azure water, spot migratory birds, and dive into the wreck of a German airplane shot down during WWII.

Relaxing in the afternoon sun, ask your captain about the rich history of this place. He might surprise you with stories of bravery, conquer and sacrifice on Theodorou Island!
